Welcome to the Greater Kansas City Post!

Dear Greater Kansas City Post Members,

Id like to start off 2014 with a lot of Thank-You's.  Thank you for allowing me to serve you this year as your Post President.  Thank you to the 2013 Officers and Board of Directors who worked hard all year to set the Post up in great shape.  Thank you in advance to the 2014 Officers and Board for what I know will be a great year.

The last month has been a hectic one for the Greater Kansas City Post. We worked thru a lot of turn over in positions getting folks into the right spots.  We prepared a draft budget for the Board to approve that balances our mission with all the things we want to do, while staying in line with our Post financial guidelines.  We planned a successful transition, one that will likely continue for the first part of this year.

Serving as your Vice President last year under my mentor, Matt Metcalf as President, was a highlight of my SAME career but I imagine this year will rival that.  Matt has provided me with such great advice, lead by example, and truly served as a role model of mine.  All of that while we had a great time with the whole GKCP membership and supporters.

I encourage you to check out the weekly eblasts for all our upcoming events this year.  Our website is always top notch thanks to Jason Sweet of Stantec so that's another great resource for Post information.  Contact any Board member or Committee Chair at any time if you want to be involved.  Come to our events...bring friends or co-workers...just get involved where you can.

Here are a few ideas for where to get involved...On January 23rd we have our annual social with the new Engineer Officers from the Command General Staff College at Ft Leavenworth.  It would be great to have a good turnout of Post members to welcome the new class to the Kansas City area.  We won't have a February Post meeting as we will be encouraging people to attend the 20 February Engineers Week lunch.  This is a great chance to interact with folks from our industry that are outside of SAME.

I truly believe in SAME and think it is THE organization to be involved with if you are in the architecture, engineering, or construction community.  I look forward to 2014 and all the great things our Post will do.  Hope to see you all soon!
