Welcome to the Greater Kansas City Post!
The Greater Kansas City Post has had an outstanding year and I would like to thank COL Tony Hofmann for his service to the Post over the past year while serving as president. Under his leadership the post hosted another highly successful Industry Day, grew the membership to an all-time high, strengthened our Student Chapter at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, supported the Wounded Warrior Program, and implemented several initiatives to help further develop the Post’s relationship with the Engineer Officers at the Command & General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth.
In 2013 the GKC Post will continue to offer a broad range of activities and programs focused on promoting relationships among uniformed services, public and private sector engineers and related professionals, and in addition the Post will focus on two key areas. The first focus area will be on increasing the value to our membership through our programs and activities. The second area of focus will be on strengthening our support and involvement with the future of the Post, our Young Members and Student Chapter Members.
We have another outstanding year ahead of us, and it is truly an honor to serve this distinguished post. I look forward to working with and serving with you in 2013!
Sincerely,
Matt L. Metcalf, PE
Post President

SPECIAL MESSAGE from our New England Regional Posts
The Society of American Military Engineers Boston (MA), Narragansett Bay (RI), and Piscataqua (NH/ME) Posts which make up the SAME New England Region, were deeply impacted by the events on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Boston Marathon. Some members were impacted directly, and many more have extended family or friends who were impacted in some way by this terrible tragedy.
However, as our motto says, we are "BOSTON STRONG", and we are doing what we do when things get difficult; moving forward, helping those that need help, and growing even stronger.
Many of our local and regional SAME members know and do business with Bill Richard with EST Associates, of Needham, MA, whose young son was tragically killed, and whose wife and daughter were severely injured. In addition to extending our thoughts and prayers to the entire Richard family, members of the Boston, Piscataqua and Narragansett Posts have been exploring additional ways in which we can assist the family in their recovery.
The New England Posts became aware of a fund that was established in coordination with the family, and to show our support, we are providing a combined donation of $5,000 to the fund. We are bringing this to your attention and encourage other Posts, Member Firms, and individuals, regardless of their affiliation with SAME, to donate to this worthy cause. A link to the fund, which accepts online donations, is provided below:
Thank you in advance.
